Anyone who has seen the video of me introducing this song live already knows the general gist of this, but I'll reiterate it for the sake of posterity:
This song was written because I had spent about a month or two writing nothing but depressing songs, so I decided that I should write a song that's not depressing. I don't think that "Beautiful" is a very good title, but I can't think of a better one, so I let it stand.
And, just for the record, the Nancy mentioned in the song refers to Nancy Pfotenhauer, and nobody knows how to pronounce her last name.
